Surgical Oncology
Surgery may be part of a patient’s treatment plan. The type of surgery a patient with cancer receives will vary, depending on factors such as the location, size, type, grade, and stage of the tumor, as well as age, general health, and other factors of the patient. The goal of surgery may be to remove the cancer, reconstruct a part of the body, and/or to relive symptoms such as pain.
The robotic da Vinci Surgical System, used primarily in the treatment of prostate cancer, can also be used for gynecology and general adult surgeries.
